Meet the Organisers

The Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ Tour is an initiative of Jump Media & Marketing’s David and Samantha Culbert and was successfully launched with a 67-person tour to the IAAF World Championships in Beijing in 2015. The London 2017 Tour was equally successful with 65 Aussie Aths Fans enjoying an incredible ten days in the British capital.

As was the case in London, the tour to Doha will be delivered in partnership with Mummu Sport.

David Culbert is a sports business strategist in his full-time role with Jump Media, working across multiple major international and domestic sporting events and projects.

His passion is athletics, and he has been involved in the sport at all levels since first lacing up the runners as a six-year-old at the local club.

As a long jumper David reached Olympic and World Championship finals and twice won Commonwealth Games silver medals. Following an international career that lasted ten years, David concluded his Bachelor of Business in Sports Management before establishing Athletics Australia’s media and marketing operation in 1994. He is a member of Athletics International, life member of Athletics Australia and has previously served as an AA selector, along with an eight-year term on the IAAF Press Commission and further eight years term on the IAAF Television Commission as the Oceania representative.

As a broadcaster he has worked at multiple Olympic and world championships events, commentating athletics as well as a host of other summer and winter Olympic sports from the best seat in the stadium. He loves nothing more than to sit in the stands with his family and enjoy world class athletics action as a passionate fan of field and track.

Samantha Culbert has had a long involvement in the sport of athletics, as a ‘clubbie’ through to various roles at all levels from grass roots to elite.

She has worked across development, media, marketing, competitions and high performance at state and national level within athletics, has been a board director at Athletics NSW and is currently on the board at Athletics Victoria. She was the deputy competition manager of athletics at both the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and has worked at multiple world championship and international events in athletics and other sports including cycling and gymnastics.

She maintains an active involvement in grass roots athletics as an age group manager with her kids and enjoys pounding the pavement, making her marathon debut in Melbourne in 2018.
