Frequently Asked Questions

Q 1. What are the dates of the IAAF World Championships in Doha?

A. The IAAF World Championships are being held from Friday 27 September – Sunday 6 October, 2019.

Q 2. Where is the event being held?

A. The 2019 IAAF World Championships are being held at Khalifa International Stadium, part of the Doha Sports City Complex in Doha.

Q 3. When can I buy my fan package or tickets to the Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ Tour to the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha?

A. The first opportunity to purchase an Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ Tour package will be Friday 27 September 2018.

We encourage fans to visit the website www.jumpmedia.com.au/Doha-2019 for tour information and to complete the online booking form. Alternatively, you can discuss directly with one of our travel team on 03 8645 3749.

Q 4. When is the final deadline for buying a fan package?

A. The final deadline for buying a fan package is Friday 5th April 2019 unless sold out earlier, which is a high likelihood. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to assist after this time.

Q 5. What is included in the fan package?

There are two different fan packages on offer – a land only package or a full package with flights included. Inclusions across both packages are the accommodation, championship tickets to all evening sessions of the athletics, supporters’ merchandise kit, welcome function, ground support in Doha and the unique aths fan experience. Click here for full details.

Q 6. What if I only want championship tickets and not a fan package?

A. If you are simply after championship tickets, these will be available via the Local Organising Committee for all sessions and categories. Purchasing a fan package through the Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ Tour is the best way to guarantee tickets to the event!

Q 7. Are tickets to all sessions included in the fan package?

A. The fan package includes a ticket to every evening session of the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha. This is 10 sessions in total.

You may also choose the optional add-on to include any of the championship pre-session tickets in your tour package.

Q 8. What are the categories for the ticket seating?

A. The tickets included in the tour package are Category A (not the top tier). We are in discussions with the IAAF on a specific location and will aim for a position on the back straight between the 1500m start (adjacent to the finish line) and the mid-point of the back straight. The final placement will be determined by the local organising committee.

A stadium map showing ticket categories will be added here when the IAAF release final ticketing information and open ticket bookings.

Q 9. What if I only want championship tickets to specific sessions and not all evening sessions, or if I want different category tickets?

A. We are not offering alternative ticketing options as part of the Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ Tour – just the main option – Category A all evening sessions, with an option to purchase pre-sessions. If you want something different in terms of ticketing, you are best advised to purchase directly with the local organising committee via the public ticket ballot.

Q 10. When will I know the schedule of events / championship timetable?

A. The draft timetable for the championships can be found here.

Please note, this timetable is not final and is subject to change by the local organising committee.

Q 11. I am a family member of a prospective Australian team member, but don’t know yet whether they will be in the team. What should I do?

A. To ensure you don’t miss out on the tour, you should book a land only package at this time – please contact the travel team to discuss your specific requirements, and we will aim to be as flexible as possible with regard to extended confirmation dates. Please don’t leave it until April or May 2019 to contact us as its unlikely we will be able to assist with tickets and accommodation at that time.

Q 12. How far from the stadium is the hotel we’re staying at?

A. Our hotel is located in central Doha, 15km from the stadium. Public transport in Doha is improving, however we have arranged for our own bus to take us to and from the Stadium for the evening session each day of the championships.

The hotel is located in West Bay, in the diplomatic area and is adjacent to one of the largest malls in the Gulf. It’s a 20-minute drive from Hamad International Airport, and is close to several attractions, such the Museum of Islamic Art and the Souq Waqif.

Q 13. Are all my airport transfers included in the package?

A. All packages include return transfers from Hamad International Airport to the hotel.

Q 14. How do we get to and from the stadium each day?

A. Public transport in Doha is improving, however we have arranged for our own bus with a dedicated driver to take us to and from the Stadium for the evening session each day of the championships.

Q 15. Will I have free time to go sight-seeing?

A. Yes! The Aussie Aths Fans Supporters’ tour is very flexible and you will have plenty of time to go sightseeing – particularly in the mornings/afternoons due to the event schedule. We will also offer some group activities – a welcome function plus one group outing. Alternatively, the Mummu travel team have plenty of knowledge of Doha and can help advise different activities for you to do if you so wish.

Q 16. Can I upgrade my flights?

A. Yes – if you are interested in upgrading your flights please let us know and we will be able to quote you on the additional cost to do so.

Q 17. What if I want to travel before or after the event?

A. Please stipulate if you would like to add some of your own additional travel to the end (or beginning of your trip) and we will happily accommodate this. If you are purchasing a flight inclusive package we will be able to accommodate your flights to suit the dates you wish to travel.

Q 18. Do I need a visa to travel to Doha?

A. Australian passport holders are eligible for a 30-day visa on arrival in Qatar, free-of-charge. You'll need a passport with at least six months validity and a confirmed onward ticket.

Q 19. When will I receive my championship tickets?

A. This will be dependent on the ticket distribution date by the IAAF. If we receive the tickets early enough, we will distribute in advance in Australia as we did for London. If we receive them close to the championships, we will likely distribute them at the tour hotel in Doha on your arrival as we did in Beijing.

Q 20. What meals are included in the package?

A. Daily breakfast is included in the package. All other meals are not included.
